Vacuum Tubes
![]() |
Vacuum tubes used to be a fact of everyday life. They were in your radios, including the one in your car if you were lucky enough to have one. They were in your TVs, and not just the big one up front, and your stereos wouldn't sound very good without them. There was a "tube tester" in every drug store, and even the mom and pop shop down the street carried a basic selection of tubes. Now tubes have all but been replaced by solid state electronics and other advances. But if it weren't for these brilliant pieces of early engineering, many of those advances would have been delayed, had they happened at all. So what do you know about these strange looking (or not; to each their own) tubes?
