Twisted Word Meanings
Jedley on 12/14/2005
|Every year, The Washington Post holds a neologism contest, in which readers must supply alternate meanings for common words. |
Example: Flabbergasted (adj.) - appalled at how much weight you've gained
See how it works? FLAB-bergasted?
This quiz features some of the winners of the Post contest. What I'll do is provide the real word, then you choose the alternate definition that strikes you as the cleverest.
Some choices will be literal, others outright off-base, others merely lame. Only one will be truly worthy.
Can you spot it?
