What Do You Know About Your Birthstone?

|Every month has an assigned precious or semiprecious stone assigned to it as a birthstone. Most gem scholars agree that birthstones originated in biblical times. The Breastplate of Aaron, referred to in Exodus 39:10-14, was a ceremonial religious garment set with 12 gemstones mounted in gold filigree settings and they represented the 12 tribes of Israel. They also corresponded with the 12 signs of the zodiac and the 12 months of the year. The precise list of birthstones can be found in Revelation 21:19-20, where the foundation stones of the new Jerusalem are listed, in the order of the Roman calendar. The custom of wearing birthstones probably first became popular in Poland in the fifteenth or sixteenth century. Birthstones are also considered day stones. There are two ways of looking at day stones. One is to look at the stone associated with the day upon which you were born. The other is to look at stones that are considered particularly lucky when worn on certain days. |
I actually don’t care for the stone assigned to my birth month, so I never wear that stone. How about you? Do you know what your birthstone is? In this quiz, I will list all the birthstones listed for a particular month and give a little information about them. You must choose the correct month they are assigned to. Good luck and thanks for taking my quiz.
