What Happened in December 1982?

Thanks to all who wrote and said that they enjoyed my series on 1981. I found another book, so here's 1982. Most of these events happened in the United States, but I tried to include some from other countries too. All information came from the book, "1982 The Year You Were Born" by Jeanne Martinet. Note about the month of December: Did you know it used to be the tenth month, thus the name decem (Latin for ten)? The old Roman calendar began with March. Thanks so much for taking my quiz! And if you didn't get a chance to do the twelve months of 1981, go look them up. Especially if you enjoy this one, which I hope you do!
