Time for another quiz in "The Song Remains The Same" series. I will introduce our song, "Who Do You Love?" (often seen without the question mark), with a lyrical excerpt: "I walked 47 miles of barbed wire, Used a cobra snake for a neck tie. Got a brand new house on the roadside, Made out of rattlesnake hide. I got a brand new chimney made on top, Made out of human skulls, Now come on darling let's take a little walk, tell me, Who do you love." I just recently thought about how ominous and creepy the lyrics to this song really are. And how maybe the singer's "darling" might be afraid to say anything but, "its you who I love." I know of no covers of this song sung by a female. A well known couplet used in many versions of "Who Do You Love?" does not appear in the original and goes: "Got a tombstone hand and a graveyard mine, Just 22 and I don't mind dying." If anybody out there knows who first introduced this lyric into the song, please email me. As always, for this series, I own a recording of any version of the subject song that is a correct answer in this quiz. Questions are too long! Too many obscure references...
Quite a trip through time. Very interesting way to sample different artists--by tracking covers of a song. I like it.
