The wok... a round-bottomed cooking vessel that originated in China. You've seen them--they're very versatile cooking instruments. Typically, they are used for fast cooking techniques such as stir frying over high heat. A more or less standard size for them is around 14 inches in diameter, although they can be found in sizes as small as 8 inches and as large as 3 feet.
