Wrath of God

|We all know that our God is God of love, grace and mercy, but is He also a God of wrath? What does the Scripture say? What provokes the wrath of God? Against whom is He wrathful of? Are we deserving of Godís wrath? Can we be saved from Godís wrath, which is our due because of sin? Whom did God send to be the sacrificial atonement (or propitiation, meaning the turning away of wrath) for our sins? |
There is a tendency for us to over-emphasize some of Godís attributes (e.g. grace, mercy and love) at the expense of His other equally important attributes (e.g. wrath, justice and holiness), based on what we want to hear. But it is very crucial that we have an accurate scriptural view of who God really is, in all His character and attributes.
New International Version (NIV) of the Bible is used.
Just fill in the blanks and may we stand in awe of God, ďfor His wrath is as great as the fear that is due HimĒ (Psalm 90:11).
