| Pica, (pie-ka), is a pattern of eating non-food materials. For a specific diagnosis, the pattern has to last longer than a month. Most of us know babies use their mouths to explore, but, if the abnormal eating occurs after the age of two, it's usually pica. Have you ever heard of pregnant women craving laundry starch--and eating it? This is called amylophagia-starch eating! |
