|From Hollywood to Bollywood, Nollywood to Ghallywood, Tamalewood to Somaliwood (and yes that last one is in Columbus, Ohio), filmmaking and movie distribution has become a global phenomenon. But the most familiar of the art form certainly comes to mind when "American" is stamped within the film title. Herewith for your consideration are 11 films that have included that very word. The selections come from films I have personally viewed and represent works with a touch of gravitas beyond "American Pie," "An American Werewolf in London," or "American Ninja." |
